5 HTP (5- Hydroxytryptophan) is an amino acid that is not produced by the body nor found in the food we consume. This chemical byproduct is found in the seeds of an African plant known as Griffonia Simplicifolia. 5- HTP helps increase the production of serotonin in the brain which plays an important role in the central nervous system and therefore helps regulate mood, appetite, sleep, and relieves pain. Research has found that this chemical can help reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety.
