New Roots Herbal Certified Organic Matcha Green Tea is shade grown and hand picked. Unlike traditional green tea, its bright green colour and creamy taste and texture are the result of subtle steaming of the whole leaf before it is stone ground. It is never roasted, fermented or pan-fried. Its powerful antioxidant and chemoprotective properties are attributed to its rich content of the polyphenol epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is also responsible for its beneficial effects on collagen, the specific protein that defines the health of connective tissue as well as the suppleness, radiance, and smoothness of the skin.
